Russian, 19th c. and Impressionist Paintings
Aguttes Auction house, in association with the Cabinet d’Expertise Dan Coissard, will present an auction of Nineteenth and Twentieth century painting on Wednesday, June 8th, at l’hôtel Drouot in Paris, France. The auction will include an important collection of Russian and Eastern European School paintings, notably "Emperor Nicholas I’s Visit to the fair at Nijni Novgorod in 1836" by Georg Emmanuel Opitz.
The sale will include six paintings by Constantin Korovine. Other Russian paintings include "Young woman in the woods" by the remarkable impressionist Grigory Myasoyedov as well as Russian symbolist Nicolas Kalmakov’s wartercolor and gouache rendering of a mythological scene. The sale will include two works by the Polish artist Maurice Minkowski, known for his sensitive depictions of traditional Jewish life in Poland during the turn of the century Russian Pogroms.
The auction will feature numerous Nineteenth and Twentieth century artists including "Young girl with Pitcher" by Berthe Moriset, and landscapes by both Henri Martin and the American Impressionist John Leslie Breck, a friend of Monet’s and resident of Giverny.
