The Magnusson Group is honored to present this collection of works from a distinguished gentleman. Located in Far Hills, NJ, this collector had a keen eye for beauty and eclectic taste that brought together a variety of disparate works that cohere into a unique collecting vision.
The auction is comprised of a wide variety of works of fine and decorative arts. Most notably, the collection includes 8 of 9 works from seminal Op Artist Jesus Rafael Soto's (Venezuelan, 1923-2005) Jai Alai series (1969). Never before at auction has this many components been available to collectors.
Additional highlights include four works by Robert Motherwell from his Africa series, unparalleled Lalique pieces such as a "Trois Lionness" four-panel table, "Seville" Chandelier, pair of molded and frosted glass leaping stag wall brackets and a clear glass cactus center table, a magnificent 18th Century Peter Garon of London Queen Anne Tall Case Clock, a luminous work by Cleve Gray (American, 1918-2004), an extremely comfortable and stylish Alberto Rosselli "Confidential" sofa for Saporiti, a collection of radiant silkscreens by Patrick Caulfield (English, 1936-2005), and multiple works from psychedelic, pop-artist Peter Max.
We note that collection of the property will occur during the sale of the remaining property from the estate on June 24 and 25.
