Philip de László (Hungarian-British, 1869-1937) Portrait of The Hon. Elaine Augusta Hunter, half-length, in a blue dress and fur coat signed and dated 'de László/1935' l.r., oil on canvas 91 x 71cm The Hon. Elaine Augusta Guest, daughter of Ivor Guest, 1st Baron Wimborne, married Ernest Villiers in 1898 and the couple went on to have two sons and two daughters. Widowed in 1923, Elaine later married Robert Lewin Hunter (1852-1942) - de László painted Robert in 1932 and Elaine in 1935. This lot will be added to the online Philip de László Catalogue Raisonné of Works. Condition Report: Framed: 109 x 89cm Light surface dirt. The paint appears a little thin in places. Rubbing to the left edge. There are some small specks of dust and dirt trapped behind the glazing however the painting itself does not appears to be affected. Not examined under UV light or viewed out of glazed frame, for a full report please contact the department.
