Description
This is a charming estate found etching by American artist Ejnar Hansen dating to the 1930s. Ejnar Hansen was a notable figure painter in Southern California during the years between the wars. He began his career in Copenhagen, where he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts while supporting himself as a painting contractor. After immigrating to the United States in 1914, he settled in the Midwest, exhibiting and winning awards for his portraits at the annual exhibitions of the Art Institute of Chicago. Hansen's art was generally somber, moody, and tending toward the melancholy, which aligns him with Scandinavian artists such as Edvard Munch. The print features a depiction of Rockefeller Center with folks milling around the courtyard. It is signed and titled below the print. - The board is 11 x 8 1/2". The paper is 10 3/8 x 8" and the printed paper is 7 x 4 3/4".
Condition
In overall good condition but in need of restoration. As pictured, the print is laid down on the backboard. The print paper is toned and is missing pieces along the edges.
