Blue and white floral porcelain lidded serving ware, lid with cobalt blue lemon finial, Hallmarked and artist numbered on underside or lid and bowl, reads ‘Royal Copenhagen Denmark 10/8172 ( handwritten) all under glaze. Signed xx or JG. Repair to one carry handle- has been re glued. 12.5 in long, 9 in wide, app 7.5 in ht, pot itself 3 7/8 in deep. History: Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 under the order of the Queen of Denmark, Juliane Marie. Originally it was named The Royal Factory. Queen Juliane Marie insisted each piece of porcelain be stamped underneath with the Royal Copenhagen logo, a crown above three waves. Blue pigment was originally derived from crushing the mineral lapis lazuli.
