Description
A early and finely carved wooden staff featuring a classic image of a Kuba mask like face with carved brow and raised scar designs. The staff has a deep well handled surface patina suggesting years of field use. Kuba Ngeende ethnic group, DRC/ Congo, central Africa. The staff has a custom display stand and measures 22.25 inches tall. Provenance: Dr. Eugene Becker and Harriet Becker Collection, New York.
Condition
Good, well handled, loss to chip out of back edge of headdress, worn smooth again.
