AN BENSON DRY PLATE STREET PHOTOGRAPHER CAMERA AND AN UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD STEREOSCOPE WITH VIEWS, 1901-1950, comprising a Benson Dry Plate Camera & Co. street photographer camera, 1915-1950, New York, fitted with a Wollensak-Rochester-Rapid Rectilinear lens, exterior covered in oilcloth and wood with metal fittings, height: 9 1/4", width: 7", depth: 14"; and an Underwood & Underwood stereoscope, New York, wood, velvet and metal, patent date June 11, 1901, the stereoscope accompanied by stereoscopic views of The Capitol Building-Washington D.C., Forbidden City -China, Neoclassical Architecture, Sweden and the Grand Canyon, height: 8 3/4", width: 7", depth: 13". Provenance: A Private Photography Collection, Houston TX.
Condition
Unknown losses and various damages and wear to the Benson camera, patina, dust, debris, some losses to velvet of stereoscope, rust, smudges and buildup on lenses, and overall in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age.
