Sino-Japanese War period, C.1894-5. Made in imitation of the Japanese pattern. Brass hilt with cast guard and pommel. The back strap piece stamped from sheet brass. Wire wrapped shark skin covered grip. 29 3/4" slightly curved blade with broad fuller, shows light edge abrasions from use. Plating completely intact. The hilt with good age color and showing workmanship inferior to the Japanese counterpart. Plated iron scabbard excellent with 95% or more finish intact. Rare.
