A vocal subset of collectors considers this to be Wolverine's true first appearance rather than a mere "cameo" appearance (a small contingent of contrarians considers a 1973 issue of FOOM to hold that distinction, due to a fan's No-Prize-winning sketch of a metal-skeletoned character named "Wolverine"). GPAnalysis: An 8.0 sold for $2000 in December 2021.

Although it's been overshadowed by the character's first cover and book-length appearance in the subsequent issue, Wolverine's single-panel debut in Incredible Hulk #180 features a full-body shot, with the character's name, look, temperament, and speech patterns fully established. By any objective reckoning, this book comprises the character's true first appearance. An increasingly important Bronze Age key.
