Description
Europe, Italy, Venice, found in western Africa, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A fine selection of wearable necklaces made with dozens of petite glass trade beads. Two of the necklaces have solely red beads, while 1 is constructed with red and white beads. One necklace exhibits beads with red, white, and black hues, and 2 necklaces feature beads with blue, white, and red hues. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, serving as currency on multiple continents. Size (largest necklace): 27.5" L (69.8 cm); (largest bead): 0.25" W x 0.23" H (0.6 cm x 0.6 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Beads are of the period stated; stringing is modern. Small nicks and chips to some beads, otherwise most beads are intact and very good. Great coloration throughout.
