Vadim Voinov, 1940 to 2015, mixed media on panel artwork Composition No 5 made in the Voinov's own style of art called functiocollage. Dated circa the 1980s or 1990s. Functiocollage differs from a standard collage by combining not the appearance, but the meaning of objects. Stamped on the back. Housed in an old wooden frame. Vadim Voinov, a well-known artist, collector, and art historian, was born in Leningrad in 1940. He studied history at Leningrad State University and worked at the State Museum of the History of Leningrad – St Petersburg from 1972 to 1993. He became an artist in the 1970s- 1980s, and has developed his own theory and method of creation of function collages. In 1994 he founded a personal gallery Bridge across the River Styx at the Pushkinskaya-10 Art Centre, St Petersburg. He has more than 70 joint and solo exhibitions to his credit. Works by Vadim Voinov are part of the collection of The State Hermitage Museum, The State Russian Museum, and The State Museum of the History of St Petersburg.
