Description
A Russian porcelain topographical plate made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, during the period of Nicholas II reign, 1894 to 1917. The terracotta color rim is decorated with the stylized gold leafy geometric pattern and the image of a black imperial eagle, the state emblem of the Russian Empire. The center is painted with a view of the embankment and the building of the Stock Exchange in St. Petersburg. On the reverse side, there is a green overglaze stamp of the manufacturer with the monogram of Nicholas II under the imperial crown and the date 1900. Provenance: Sotheby's October 8, 1998.
