Description
Two of the "Savoy Six", framed individually, oil on academy board, both signed lower left, depicting ancient American Revolutionary War Soldier and Sailor wearing tattered remnants of their uniforms. Both are inscribed verso in later pencil "One of the 'Savoy Six', painted by Alfred Cornelius Howland (A Hometown Artist), Walpole, New Hampshire, 1848". (So, painted by the artist when he was ten years old?) Housed in dull gold molded cove frame, framed in Oakland, Cal. in the 1930's. OS: 12 1/2" x 9 1/2", SS: 7 1/2" x 4 1/2', good condition.
