George Herriman (American, 1881-1944) Archy and Mehitabel
(15 1/2 x 19 1/2 in. (39.4 x 49.5cm))

(15 1/2 x 19 1/2 in. (39.4 x 49.5cm))
Provenance
Private Collection, Philadelphia.
Overall great original condition. The board is slightly toned overall, with lighter margins and some discoloration along the extreme edges. A few spots of a slight brownish discoloration are present to top margin, near edge. There are a few black ink dots outside of the image area, but this appears intrinsic to the work and artist's process. A few spots and marks from handling, including a small black mark, possibly a thumbprint, below signature. No obvious creases, rips or tears. Verso bears marks from old adhesive.
