Description
After the model by Claude Ballin (French 1615-1678), circa 1850, pair of French bronze Grand Tour baluster form urns having Janus handles with boars' head masks, bands of shells, oaks leaves, and Greek keys, and raised on fluted socle bases, apparently unmarked. Provenance: Acquired from H. Perovetz Ltd., London, England, June 9, 1977. Approx. h. 8.5", w. 5.75".
Condition
Handles on one are loose with visible casting gap, scattered oxidation, casting imperfections to base of one.
