Wonderful Rustic Mask
Measurements
Height- 10 3/4"
Wide- 5 1/2"
Depth/Deep- 4 1/2" (Measured from side of mask to nose)
This rustic hand carved and hand painted mask was made by Mr. Busmaro Pina.
The mask represents an old man with a flesh color face.
Since the wood used by Busamaro are natural pieces, this mask has a large crack in the side of the face.
The mask will not fall apart.
He grew up going to "Dia de Los Muertos" or "Day of the Dead" to Janitzio, an island in Lake Pasquaro.
There is a cemetery on the island, where people have been burying their love ones for many, many generations.
Each of his figurines, masks or canoes are hand carved with local wood (copal), along with acrylic paints, wire and glue.
Mr. Pina signs all his pieces.
Overall, the whole mask is fun and one of a kind.
This is a unique and a wonderful piece of Mexican folk art.
