掐絲琺瑯是一種瓷銅結合的獨特工藝，俗稱“景泰藍”，元代開始進入中國，在明景泰年間得到了長足的發展。製作掐絲琺瑯先要用銅製胎，再用扁細的銅絲在銅胎上勾勒粘出圖案花紋，然後用色彩不同的琺瑯釉料鑲嵌填充在圖案中，這道工序完成後才是反复燒結，磨光鍍金。蓋罐胎體厚實，手頭感較重，蓋與盒身以唇邊式子母口相合，銜接緊實，蓋面高隆呈傘狀，鈕作圓珠狀，罐直口，溜肩下漸收，下承圈足，形體飽滿周正，精雅怡人，器身通體以高超的掐絲琺瑯技法勾勒出翻滾遊走的祥龍紋裝飾，龍身弓曲，矯健兇猛，氣勢威猛，其間勾勒各式祥雲紋襯托，凸顯出神龍動感十足，填充紅、黃、白等色琺瑯彩料，黃料嬌豔鮮亮，紅料深沉穩重，白料點綴優雅，呈色穩定，設色純正雅緻，相互協調，沉靜肅穆，盡見迤邐之姿，給人以穩重感。口沿處刻書大明宣德年制和御用監造字樣，下刀蒼勁有力，字體工整灑脫，配有隨形木質底座，更添神韻，整器銅質精純，局部鎏金燦然，繪工精湛，畫面佈局比例協調，圖樣佈局井然有序，線條流暢婉轉，氣韻華美，悅目怡情。"
