Partial printed DS, measuring 8.25" x 10", dated December 8, 1862, n.p. Voucher paying a total of ninety dollars to soldier R.D. Lee for a one month-long service between October 31 and November 30, 1862 in the 6th Arkansas Infantry. Lee served in Company E, also known as the "Dixie Grays" of the 6th Arkansas, commanded by Captain Sam G. Smith. The voucher is numbered 2671 on verso. Consisting of ten volunteer companies, the 6th Arkansas Infantry Regiment was first organized in Little Rock on June 10, 1861. It soon became among the first to be transferred for Confederate service, spending most of its time in forces east of the Mississippi River. After the unit sustained heavy casualties during the Battle of Shiloh and Braxton Bragg's Kentucky Campaign in mid-1862, the unit spent the rest of the war consolidated with the 7th Arkansas Infantry Regiment.
