CHAGALL MARC: (1887-1985) Russian-French Artist. An excellent book signed and inscribed, with an original colour drawing by Chagall, being a folio edition of Le Cirque D'Izis by Jacques Prevert, First Edition published by Andre Sauret, Monte Carlo, 1965, with 80 black and white plates of circuses by D'Izis Bidermanas and four colour plates by Chagall. Red publishers cloth stamped in black and accompanied by the illustrated dustjacket from a design by Chagall (although lacking the second acetate jacket). Signed by Chagall in bold black ink to the title page, 'Pour mon ami Jean, Chagall' and dated 1966 in his hand. The artist has additionally drawn a black pen and ink portrait, possibly of himself, alongside a bunch of flowers, to the title page to which he has added blue and red chalk (?) highlights in the hair and petals of the flowers. A highly attractive signed book, enhanced by Chagall's equally attractive drawing. Some very light, extremely minor age wear to the edges of the dustjacket, otherwise VG
