Description
Western Europe, England, Medieval Period, ca. 10th to 15th century CE. A set of 10 forged iron firestarters of varying forms. Some of the tools have a pair of pinched terminals, and others of a flat edge with rough surfaces. The user would strike a piece of flint between the curled tips or along the flat edge to create sparks. Firestarters like these were a petite and lightweight tool that took up little room in a pack. Size of largest: 3.6" L x 1.375" W (9.1 cm x 3.5 cm)
