Description
This is a Hudson River School painting but who is the artist? An unsigned work, but well executed. So many of the Hudson River artists popularized the White Mountain School in New Hampshire, including Thomas Cole, Benjamin Champney, Albert Bierstadt, Asher B. Durand, George Inness and John Frederick Kensett. Could this precisely rendered landscape celebrating the pristine American landscape be a Champney? Only an art sleuth will uncover the research trail. Provenance is key – this was a painting that was in the collection of a Rhode Island family for over 100 years! In excellent condition in a gold leaf frame it was well cared for and loved as a family treasure. The new owner of this painting will enjoy the exacting detail championed by the Hudson River School painters. Framed: 30" x 41"Update: Many clients have come & examined work at the gallery. On removing work from frame, a small flake of paint fell off canvas. New photos have been posted.
Condition
Good. Usual aged crazing & small flake of paint missing from center tree. See photos.
