Description
A very rare pair of Wedgwood Jasperware porcelain covered vases dating from the Late 18th-Early 19th Century, featuring dark blue (possibly cobalt)-dip bodies and modeled motifs from the myth of Leda and the Swan. Each vase is marked underneath the foot with an impressed uppercase "WEDGWOOD" stamp over the letter Y and hand-incised shape number 274. Dimensions: (With lid) H 12" x Dia. 8" Condition: One vase in need of restoration; missing Leda's head as well as the head of one swan. Both vases with naturally-occurring hairlines to white relief decoration, mostly visible on the swans adorning the body. Vase without breaks shows a couple small marks to the foot. Note: All proceeds from the sale of this lot will go to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum.

All the items in this auction remain at our Annex Gallery in Bridgeport, CT for pickup or shipping. Items must be picked up or shipped in the time frame of Wednesday, May 17th - Friday, May 26th, 9am-5pm, WEEKDAYS. We will offer in-house shipping to the Contiguous USA for select smaller items in this sale, please contact us prior to bidding for a quote as purchases are not contingent on shipping.
