Impressive Victorian Elkington Silverplate Centerpiece
1861, Elkington, Mason & Co., Birmingham, in the form of a sprawling oak tree with six scrolling branches, each terminating in a candle nozzle and suspending a basket fitted with a frosted glass liner, the whole surmounted by a frosted and cut bowl, the base a rocky crag with two stags, one statant, one couchant, presented on a circular mirrored plateau en suite.

Condition
A handsome piece in good condition with no dents, breaks or repairs noted and no appreciable loss to the silvering. One of the smaller glass bowls has a 1" x 1/2" chip with loss on the rim, but otherwise they are fine with no cracks or chips noted. The mirrored plate of the plate has a large 1-1/4" x 3/4" chip at the rim, with scattered flecked fogging around the rest of the rim and a few surface scratches where the centerpiece has rested on it. The centerpiece marked on the basal edge as illustrated, the plateau unmarked.
