Description
Ca. early 20thC. Male dance mask called tshihong, used in festivals to summon the spirits of strength, and symbolizes wealth and power, the mask also confers judiciary powers to the wearer. Very good with age appropriate wear. The excellent, original patina is warm and rich. Just mask measures approx. 10 1/2" high. Originally from an old Ghent, Belgium collection. Ex-Luc Sanders Collection, Belgium. Purchased Tad Dale 2006 (copy of original receipt can be included if requested). Ex-Nooter coll.
