A Rare American Colonial Map Powder-HornSigned Arthur Nicolson, Dated 1758The body formed from a section of polished natural cowhorn incised with scrimshaw work depicting the forts and settlements along the Hudson and Mohawk rivers from New York up to Canada, with views including New York, Albany, Still Water, Fort Edward, Lake George, Fort Carilion, Fort Pepperell and Lake Ontario, the Hanoverian royal arms and shipping, and tapering nozzle with turned moulding and silver cap, the reduced base now converted to a snuff mull with hinged silver-mounted cowhorn lid (minor damage) set with a faceted paste, an applied silver plaque on one side engraved 'FROM J. Grant Esq. DUNEANE TO D.
