Description
Swinghandled green, black, red, and gold painted leather fire bucket with the name, Freeman Coffin and the date 1836. The bucket likely belonged to Freeman Pease Coffin (1801-1871) of Edgartown, Massachusetts. He was the husband of Chloe Dexter Coffin (1802-1892) also of Edgartown. Both are buried in Old Westside Cemetery. 17" x 12 1/2" bucket height. 7 3/4" dia. The bucket retains its shape, is in good overall condition with some paint loss. Provenance: Antique Associates of West Townsend.
