Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Blackfoot / Crow, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A long rectangular bag made from bear hide folded and sewn to form a flap, with the black fur facing outwards, contrasting beautifully with the glass beads lining the flap and strung / sewn to the tassels. Bags such as this were beautiful containers to transport the materials to construct a tipi tent, such as the pegs and guidelines, or other "possibles" (personal belongings), and once the tipi was pitched, the bags could be used to decorate the interior. Size: 20" L x 12" W (50.8 cm x 30.5 cm)

Condition
Tear and perforation to bottom center edge of bear hide. Wear and losses to hairs on bag, but fur is in good condition. Fraying and stiffening to hide cords and some missing cords / beading, but overall great condition.
