**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, Japan, Meiji period, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand carved elephant ivory okimono figurine of Daikokuten (Daikoku), one of the Seven Lucky Gods, holding a mallet in his hand, his clothing lightly incised with geometric wagara patterns. The underside is signed by the artist in black ink. Daikokuten is the deity of fortune and wealth, the magic mallet grants wishes, providing luck and prosperity. Size: 1.5" L x 1" W x 4.25" H (3.8 cm x 2.5 cm x 10.8 cm)
This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.
Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
