A large heavy carved wooden ceremonial mask with bold archaic facial features and embellished with mineral pigments and a striking blue paint accent. The Mask was worn by a man of the AWA society, acting as an aggressive "Hunter" during dancers who would stalk the rabbit mask dancer though never catch him. Dogon peoples, Mali, Africa. The mask measures 21 inches tall. A basic display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00. Provenance: Nicholas Poolos collection, Chicago, Ill. USA, also Ex Private NYC collection.
