Description
Native American, Midwestern United States, Ohio, Delaware County, Paleo-Indian Period, ca. 13000 to 8000 BCE (15,000 to 10,000 BP). A remarkably well-preserved Clovis projectile point, made from high-quality Ohio chert that exhibits the characteristic lanceolate shape with a concave base, an excurvate blade, and fluted side. These iconic prehistoric stone tools are associated with the Clovis culture and represent early human craftsmanship. Ohio's renowned chert, known as Flint Ridge flint, was in high demand among Native American cultures for crafting tools, including projectile points, knives, and scrapers, owing to its unique colors and workability. Clovis points, believed to be the earliest projectile points used by Paleo-Indian people, have even been found in association with mammoth and mastodon remains. Size: 2" L x 1" W (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm).
