Description
Hand turned woodenware folk art wall hanging box attributed to Joseph Long Lehn of Pennsylvania. Lehn, a master Pennsylvania craftsman, was born in Manheim Township in Lancaster County Pennsylvania on January 6, 1798 and died September 16, 1892. Over the course of his life Lehn's Woodenware was widely regarded as the standard of the day, and Lehn's wood crafts remain very desirable to this day. The piece in this lot is a wall box, designed to be hung on the wall and hold a variety of items, from matches, to correspondence to even pins in the integrated pin cushion. Very good overall considering the age of the piece. Minor losses to the match strike strips on either side, other wise truly excellent. Measures approximately 5.5" x 7" x 15"
