Atomic Bomb: "Bockscar" is the name of the Army Air forces B-29 that dropped a Fat Man nuclear weapon over the Japanese city of Nagasaki during WWII. The "Bockscar" was piloted by the crew of another B-29, "The Great Artiste", The Pilot In command was Charles Sweeney, (1919-2004) who was also the commander of the 393 rd Bombardment Squadron. This 8"x10" photo was taken at approximately 2:00 a.m. Tinian time, he has just learned that he has 660 gallons of trapped fuel in a spare tank that may be needed for the mission, and has to make the decision to take off with the bomb.
