GRACE HORN NEAS (American, 20th C). "Changing Soil" Broken Arrow Series regionalist. Signed lower right Grace Horn Neas 1939. Oil on linen. Good condition with light craquelure and inpainting upper left and right corner. 1940's David Porter Gallery Washington DC label on reverse. Painting measures 18" x 22". Frame measures 22 ½" x 26". Porter exhibited Neas' work at the David Porter Gallery, 916 G Place, N. W. Washington, D.C. in the 1940's along with such vanguard artists as Baziotes, Bourgeois, de Kooning, Gottlieb, Motherwell, Nevelson, Pollock, Pousette-Dart, Rothko and other abstract expressionists. A scanned photograph of David Porter in his Wainscott, New York studio on the east end of Long Island is included in the images.
