A hand carved wooden ceremonial mask known as a gre or nyabwa, which has highly stylized facial features and traditionally presided over judicial ceremonies and war parties. Dan or Bete peoples, Liberia, Africa. The mask measures 13 x 7 x 7 inches, 19 inches tall on professional custom display stand. Provenance: EX William Siegman. Bill Siegman is recognized as one of the great experts of Ethnographic art from this region. Also a private NYC collection.
