Circa 1840. Watercolor by Rebecca D. Green. Brilliantly rendered work looking down from hill top over American war ships and coastal city. This piece is in remembrance of Captain Samuel Skolfield who died at Old Point Virginia October 21st 1826 along with Lettice O Skolfield and Reed Skolfield as well. This work likely depicts Old Point Virginia. The ships are flying American flags. Very delicate details have been rendered in this work.
