Freddy Canesse (French, b. 1959), Two Abstract Soapstone Sculptures

circa 1986, the first in Spanish white alabaster, titled La Liaison (6 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 3 in.); the second in green "jade" soapstone, titled Remission (9 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 in.), both mounted atop ebonzied wood bases, includes exhibition press release, with engraved gallery plaques inscribed "Paris 1986" to verso.
Born in Auchel, France, artist Freddy Canesse worked in sculpture, drawing, and painting medias with an emphasis on the organic abstract movement and the human figure. Freddy studied under Bill Williams and Russell Green at Columbia College (Columbia, Missouri); Karle Murdock-Griffith at Ringling School of Art (Sarasota, Florida).
