This work contains descriptions on Vanilla, nutmeg and mace, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, cassia bark, cardamom, pepper, ginger, dill, cumin, chilies, and turmeric. Note the full-page and in-text illustrations throughout. Ridley was a well-known English botanist who was a catalyst for rubber harvesting in Singapore. It wasnt until he made his way back to England in the 20th-century that Spices written.
