Description
Silas Hoadley Pine Tall Case Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, Nineteenth Century. The arched crest with three plinths surmounted by brass spire finials, above the arched door flanked by brass-mounted ebonized free-standing columns, opening to the white-painted dial with black Roman numerals, the lunette painted and gilt with a displayed eagle and shield, bayonette and flag, and the spandrels delicate pink and green floral stems, lettered "S. HOADLEY PLYMOUTH" in an arch above a view of a church and village in a landscape, wooden movement and bell chime, the case door with brass pull and within brass-mounted ebonized engaged quarter columns, above the base section with serpentine apron ending in flared feet. H: 86.25 in., W: 18.5 in., D: 9.5 in.
