Roald Amundsen (Norwegian, 1872-1928) the 1st man to reach the South Pole and the 1st to reach both the North and South Poles. Amundsen also made the 1st crossing of the Arctic with 15 others in the airship Norge. Amundsen disappeared on a rescue mission in the Barents Sea and his body was never recovered.
Ian Pirie MacDonald (American, 1867-1942) was a portrait photographer, New York City civic leader, and peace advocate.
