Ornate NeoClassical - Egyptian Revival designs featuring three legs with mythological Sphinx style winged-woman busts and human feet, scrolled floral designs, pierced lid with finial, separate burner with black handle and finial.
Miniature pastille burners made of silver are rare and usually made for the wealthy. Most were made from brass or other metals.
HALLMARKS: Minerva Head (950/1000 silver, 1838-1919 Paris) and "OC" in a Diamond with Sun & Star for Olier & Caron (on the bottom, co-joined with a Minerva mark). Marks on the lid, bottom of the vessel, bottom of the burner.

NOTES / REFERENCES: The Makers Mark shows a C and an O topped by a rising Sun with a star underneath. Olier and Caron became as prestigious a name as that of Puiforcat, obtaining several Medals and Grand Prize, at the Cairo French World Trade Fair, as well as the Paris Colonial Exposition and the World Trade Fair in Bruxelles. Pieces made by Olier & Caron were of the highest quality and are highly sought after.
