Description
A beautifully painted and adorned Orthodox Icon from Imperial Russia depicting Mary and the Christ Child, topped with a gilt-silver oklad and surrounded by a gilt wooden frame. Above the icon, within the semi-circle top of the frame, is a large gilt-silver insert with engraved geometric patterns. The whole piece is kept within a larger dark wooden case with a glass front.

Condition
Very good for its age. Some pieces are slightly loose but all appear to be present. Some wear to gilt-wood frame. The back of the larger wooden case has a slender vertical piece missing. Expected signs of wear due to age.
