A lingam is an aniconic representation of Lord Shiva and this piece showing one or several faces of the god is referred to as mukhalingam.

This piece therefor can be called a mukhalingam, showing the head of the God of Destruction on a square base consisting of various tiers, a small statue of his vahana, the bull Nandi, is attached at the edge of the base facing its master.

The face of Shiva shows a curled moustache, open eyes, wide eyebrows and wrinkles on the forehead.

He is wearing a conical pointy crown with bud finial.
