[HAND-COLORED AQUATINT]. [SCRIVEN, Edward (1775-1841), engraver]. [NELSON, Lord Horatio (1758-1805), subject]. Nelson. London: Edward Scriven, December 9, 1805. Scarce hand-colored engraving by E. Scriven from a miniature for which Nelson sat for artist and publisher, Robert Bowyer (1758-1834). Portrait of Nelson hovers over a sea battle. Sight approximately 9 ¾ x 7”. Matted and framed under glass. Frame size approximately 17 ½ x 14 ¼”. Print toned and foxed. Good. Captioned as follows at bottom: “Engrav'd by E. Samson from a miniature for which Lord Nelson sat by William Beechey. Published the 9th of Dec 1805, by R. Bouryer, Pall Mall.” This engraving was done around the time that Nelson’s body arrived in England, but before his burial. Not examined out of frame.
