Item Details
Description
This is a Northern Pacific Railroad class lamp. It is one of several lanterns from the estate of Ray Canole, a well-known collector and restorer of railroad lanterns from Michigan. He has done exquisite restorations for many years. This lamp is in like new condition. Has two clear lenses that are in like-new condition. Inside of the lamp are two green and two red glass squares that slide into the slots behind the lenses. Would need a replacement burner and fount, or, as is evident, the lamp was once converted to electric by the railroad, and a socket/cord could easily be inserted as well. Top cover is cast with N.P.R.R. The handle for the lid is welded over part of the N, but upon opening the lid, N.P.R.R. is clearly evident inside as well. Intact peephole and glass, as well as exterior knob for burner control if a person decides to add the kerosene fount. Both mounting arms are intact. Excellent paintwork. An excellent piece that is difficult to find in any condition!
