Artist Bio: Irene attended Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., where she studied sculpture. She graduated from Kean University and also attended the Parsons School of Design
in New York City. In 1996, she studied in Pietrasanta, Italy. She was a member of the Sculptors Association of New Jersey, the International Sculpture Center in Hamilton, N.J.,
and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City. She was a sculptor and docent with the Newark Museum and is listed in Who's Who in American Art. Her work is in
Galleries and collections through out the United States.
Artist Statement: To me the excitement of sculpture is in trying to create a movement or feeling in a stationary meterial such as stone, wood or metal. I am most interested
in people, in their variety of expressions, stances, movements and shapes. The variety is never ending and I try to catch an instant in time in my sculptures. Each piece is
different because I let the original shape of the stone or wood show through. I originally started as a wood carver and went on to stone.
