Description
Two Mahogany Dressing Mirrors, First Quarter 19th Century. Comprising a George III crossbanded example with shield form mirror over a serpentine base with three drawers. Mahogany secondary wood; and an American Federal example with oval mirror over a base with three drawers, raised on small turned feet. Tulip poplar secondary wood. (2)
Dimensions: Height of larger 24 1/4in; width 18 1/2in; depth 8 3/4in; Height of smaller 15 3/4in; width 14in; depth 8 1/4in.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.
Condition
Each in overall good condition. The George III example in overall restored condition with replaced glass. There is a plugged hole to the top of mirror. Bending to brass on left stile. With key. The Federal example with minor age age cracks and movement to veneers. The silvering to mirror with heavy wear and loss. Wear to knobs, one appears to be replaced.
