An Ishimeji-Lacquer Small Three-Case Inro
Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
Of rounded rectangular form with an ishimeji (simulated stone ground) inset with two lacquered circular panels, one with Shoki, the Demon-Queller glowering towards a fleeing oni (demon) depicted on the other side, decorated in gold and coloured takamaki-e, signed on the bottom case with a red seal Takamitsu; with a shibuichi ojime applied in high relief of silver, bronze and shakudo with a sparrow dancer and sparrows in flight. 6.5cm x 6cm (2 9/16in x 2 3/8in).
