A WOOD JIZAI OKIMONO OF A DRAGON

Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Naturalistically rendered and constructed of extremely smoothly moving parts, with a head that can be turned 360 degrees, the body intricately carved with scales and dorsal spines with a well-carved head, legs and claws; the jaw movable with a protruding, movable tongue, the eyes inlaid with black pupils; unsigned. 87cm (34¾in) long.

Condition

Including but not limited to the following:

A few minor old chips: including a tiny chip on the right horn, on one of the spikes on the tail, the tips of a few of the other spikes also with minuscule chips. Old tiny chips also to the tips of the spikes of the forelegs. Last dorsal fin on the body slightly chipped. The tips of the lower jaw whisker with also a few minor flattened old chips. Otherwise very good overall condition and presentable order with full flexibility. Aforementioned flaws do not detract from the craftsmanship of this work.
