Description
A RARE KO-IMARI ENAMELLED LOBED DISH

Edo period (1615-1868), late 17th/early 18th century
Painted in underglaze blue, iron-red, green, yellow and black enamels with stylised paulownia leaves and blossoms scattered over a simulated woven bamboo basket design interspersed with formal floral motifs, the underside with pairings of cherry blossoms floating above waves, the base with a clove mark surrounded by leaves. 5.1cm x 35.2cm (2in x 13 7/8in).

Condition
Including but not limited to the following:

No traces of restoration when examined under UV light. A few minor firing cracks (original to manufacture), the largest on the base measuring approx. 1.5cm. Minor rubbings to the enamels here and there, but mainly along the iron-red outline of the lattice outline in the well and a few of the foliage and paulownia leaf decorations (visible in the online image). Very good overall condition. A rare dish.
