ATTRIBUTED TO THE HAYASHI KODENJI WORKSHOP OF NAGOYA

A Cloisonné-Enamel Large Baluster Vase
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Worked in silver wire of varying gauge with seven birds, possibly finches, among stalks of flowering wild chrysanthemums growing behind rocks on a river bank, three birds perched on the rocks, four in flight, the reverse with another clump of chrysanthemums, all reserved on a dark blue ground, the neck and foot with a band of repeated stylised foliate motifs within shield-shaped cartouches, applied with a silver neck and foot rim, unsigned; with a wood brocade-lined storage box. 46cm (18 1/8in) high.
